Social Policy Molded On Morality?

Spitzer's True Folly

I think this article makes a good point.

While we're on the subject, why not legalize prostitution? You can regulate it (more money for us), it's good for the prostitutes, and it's good for the clients.

For all the moralists out there, just because something is legal doesn't mean you have to do it. You can *choose* to participate, but you don't *have* to.

The problem with making it legal is that it would most likely victimize more young women from places like eastern europe and other under-priviveleged women even here at home by increasing the demand for them.

There are those who would do it legal or not, but no doubt a market will create a demand. When you say "choose to participate" That's not a realistic way to view many women and girls who get into the sex trade one way or another.

I don't really consider myself a moralist, but I don't think regulating prostitution for more money is a worthy endeavor for us as a society, and I don't really think it is good for the prostitutes or their clients when it comes right down to it.
